The Valley of Five Polish Ponds

Valley of Five Polish Ponds is a branch of the Białka Valley in the High Tatras. It is considered one of the most beautiful places in the Polish Tatra Mountains. The unusual landscape here is formed by granite mountain peaks, covered with dwarf pine, and post-glacial lakes (ponds), from which the Valley takes its name. In the Valley of Five Ponds you can observe not only beautiful mountain panoramas, but also wild animals, such as chamois, bears and marmots. In winter, mountaineering and ski-touring are practiced here. The Valley of Five Ponds is about 4 kilometres long and 2 kilometres wide, located at an altitude of 1625 to 1900 meters above sea level, and lies within the Tatra National Park (TPN). Through the Valley flows the Roztoka Stream with its source in the Great Pond, which flows into the Bialka River behind Mickiewicz's Waterfalls. The name of the valley may seem strange for another reason as well. The ponds, or lakes, in it are not five, but six: the Great Polish Pond, the Small Pond of Poland, the Front Pond of Poland, the Black Pond of Poland, Zadni Staw Polski, Wole Oko
