Solina Dam
The Solina Dam is a huge structure and the highest dam in Poland. The Solina Dam was launched in July 1968. More than 2,000 people worked on its construction, which took nearly nine years. At the bottom of the current Solina Lake were several villages (including the village of Solina). Their life achievements were razed to the ground, and the residents themselves were displaced. The area, which is now the bottom of Lake Solina, was inhabited by about 3,000 people in the early 1960s. The role of the dam is to dam the waters of the San, Solina and other minor streams, as well as to regulate the water level in the lagoon and produce electricity. The entire Solina Lake is a quiet zone, which means that equipment equipped with internal combustion engines is not allowed there.
