Venus of Hrádok

I was named after the place where they found me. My name is the Venus of Hrádok or Magna Mater, which means great mother. I am one of the most famous Slovak Venus statues. I come from the Neolithic period and was found in Nitra Castle. I measure 27cm. I am a unique piece of painted ceramics of the Lengyel culture. According to the material found in my area, I come from 4800 to 3500 BC. I am made of mixed sand and have a brick red color. My appearance is a female figure with a narrower torso sitting on a stool. I have indicated the toes and the details of the table. My head has no distinct features, only indicated hair lines. You can find the original statue in the Hornonitrian Museum in Prievidza, but if the copy is enough, I have a monument in the center of Nitriansky Hrádok. You could also see me on the Slovak two-crown coin from 1993 until the introduction of the Euro in 2009.
