River Danube

Many people think that life of rivers is boring, but this is not the case at all. Let's just take mine, the life of the Danube. It is no exaggeration to say that every drop of water takes me on a crazy journey. My start takes place in the Black Forest in Germany, where I am just a small stream. Actually, two small streams, the Breg and the Brigach, join together for me to set off. After that, we travel 2,850 kilometres to the Black Sea, where our journey ends in a delta estuary before splashing into the sea. Meanwhile, we pass through wonderful landscapes... Ten countries, countless cities, including four capitals: Vienna, Bratislava, Budapest and Belgrade. It isn’t nothing, right? Moreover, as I move towards the sea, I am also constantly changing. I, the little stream, am already 350 meters wide near Budapest, 1300 meters wide near Belgrade, while on the Lower Danube I reach up to 15 kilometres. Along with this, of course, my water mass and speed also increase. And then I haven't mentioned how fat I can get from spring rain floods or how much my water level can drop during summer droughts. All this has been happening to me for a million years, but even so there are unexpected turns, such as the Pest flood of 1838. And then I didn't even mention the many plants and animals that either live with me or that we meet along the way. Well, enough of the gurgling chatter. A ship has just arrived, on which the Blue Danube waltz written about me is playing. I really like this song, so I'm going to listen to it.
