Bryndzové halušky
All Slovaks and tourists consider us a national dish. However, the opposite is true and this dish was never national. We were brought by Romanian peasants and the Slovaks liked it so much that in a short time we spread and became a very popular dish. One of the reasons was the easy availability of raw materials and the high degree of satitation. The base consists of grated raw potatoes, flour and salt, and sometimes an egg is also added. The dough prepared in this way is boiled in water in small pieces. Cooked gnocchi are mixed with bryndza and seasoned with fried bacon. Sour cream can also be added to taste. You can also prepare us with cabbage and bacon or cabbage and sugar. Many people also add us to soups instead of pasta.
